Getting to the West Coast is an exciting journey in itself. Travel through magical landscapes of coastline and seascape, temperate rainforests, mountains and valleys, villages and cityscape. With all the traveling options and frequent schedules, getting here is easy!

Ucluelet, the Beaches and Tofino

Ucluelet is located 288 kilometres (about a 5 hour drive) northwest of the British Columbia provincial capital, Victoria, on the magnificent outer West Coast of Vancouver Island. The closest city is Port Alberni approximately 2 hours to the east. Tofino is just up the road, 40 km northwest of Ucluelet.

Long Beach and Pacific Rim Nation Park: Just Minutes Away

In between Tofino and Ucluelet is the Long Beach Unit of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Ucluelet provides easy water access to Barkley Sound; a spectacular marine area that features the Broken Group Islands Unit of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

Drive or Fly to Ucluelet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Whether you choose to drive or fly, Ucluelet is easily accessible.
1) After disembarking from the ferry of your choice on Vancouver Island, pick up the Inland Island Highway and head for Port Alberni. Take exit #60 for Highway 4 West.

2) As you travel through Port Alberni you will come to a T junction at the waters edge, take a right and follow one of the West Coasts most breathtaking highways (still Highway 4) winding its way through the Vancouver Island Range, be ready for panoramic views that will simply take your breath away.

3) As you approach the Heart of the Pacific Rim you will come to one final T junction, turn left and you will find the village of Ucluelet only 8 km away.

4) The Barkley Adventure Station is located at the Inner Boat Basin of the Ucluelet harbour just off of highway 4. Turn left immediately after you pass the great big white ship as you enter the village, trust us, you can't miss it.

If flying is your preference, you can fly to any number of Vancouver Island destinations where rental cars are available on site to suit your individual needs. You may fly directly into the Tofino airport from Victoria or Vancouver. It is about an hour's flight over a very scenic landscape and flying over the beaches on your descent into the Tofino airport is a beautiful sight. Rental cars are available at the Tofino airport.
