Do I need reservations for a fishing charter?
In June, July, and August the whole town of Ucluelet is booked solid and reservations are a must. May and September are also busy and a confirmed booking is recommended. Other months can be hit and miss. In order to make sure you have a spot, reserving is always a good idea. A deposit of $250 CAD per package day will reserve your West Coast experience with Barkley Adventure Station. Many of our guests are repeat customers who book a year in advance.

Fishing licenses are not provided; you need to purchase one with a salmon stamp before you arrive at the Barkley Adventure Station. Fishing licenses are available at the gift shop at the Canadian Princess 24 hours a day once you enter Ucluelet.


What are our catch limits?
The daily limits right now are 2 Chinook salmon and 2 Halibut per person per day. Coho is scheduled to open June first for 2 hatchery Coho per person, per day.

Possession Limits are as follows, 4 Chinook salmon and 3 Halibut. That is your 2-day possession limit; note you are only allowed a maximum of 3 Halibut in your possession per person. After June first you will also be able to retain 4 hatchery Coho for your 2-day possession limit. Catch limits and possession limits can be changed by fisheries and oceans Canada At the Barkley Adventure Station we have all the latest updates.

* A camera, never forget a camera.
* Warm clothing is always a good idea it can get chilly if you get wet and the fog mist is quite cool.
* We suggest that you pack a lunch. Boxed lunches can be purchased locally for any number of different activities. Just ask us for some recommendations. Our Vessel has all the galley amenities available to you such as hot coffee, water, hot tea etc. it's just the main meals we can't offer since we'll be helping you fish!
* For fishing trips always remember a 100 quart plus cooler.



When do the fishing and adventure trips leave?
Fishing charters depart between five and six am. depending on the time of year, daylight, and each specific groups requirements. Eco Adventure tours depart at varying times so please check ahead for schedules.


How long are the fishing trips?
Each trip is based on an 8-10 hour day. With two, three, or four people on board, you will spend less time at sea than you will with 5 or 6.


Will I get seasick?
Motion sickness affects everyone differently, it is recommended that all of our guest purchase a motion sickness tablet of some sort and take it the night before and the morning of any offshore charter. An example of a motion sickness tablet would be gravel, etc.


When I catch Fish what do I do with it?
At the Barkley adventure station we have cooler and freezing facilities. Arrangements can be made for smoking and custom packaging of your catch at a local smokehouse. Shipping can also be arranged. The smoking and shipping costs are extra, freezing and the cooler are included.
